Sidarius Walker ran for a 10-yard touchdown in the third overtime, and Ethon Cole batted down a two-point pass to give Lake Minneola a 49-48 triple-overtime victory over St. Augustine in an epic Class 6A football state semifinal on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Robbie Sanders ran for 213 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, including a 10-yard run in the second overtime for the Hawks (11-1), who played in the first football state semifinal in school history. Sanders also completed 9 of 12 passes for 68 yards for the Hawks, who denied St. Augustine (10-3).
The Hawks will meet perennial power and reigning 6A champion Miami Central (6-1) in next week’s state title game in Tallahassee.
