Coach Walter Banks said that Lake Minneola doesn’t worry about what other teams do. He worries just about what the Hawks do.
The Hawks did a lot right in Friday night’s Class 6A, Region 2 high school football final. Banks’ team rode three touchdown runs by quarterback Robbie Sanders, Sidarius Walker’s 153 yards and a stout defense to roll to a 35-14 home win against previously unbeaten Tampa Gaither (10-1).
The Hawks (10-1) avenged a 41-7 loss to the Cowboys in last year’s region final. They will be home again next week for the first state semifinal in program history for a school that opened in 2011.
