There is a little league baseball field named after Jeannie Fisher’s late father located in Union, West Virginia.
Fisher Field sits at Beckett’s Park, in the same town where Elwood “Woodie” Fisher introduced his only daughter to the game and served as an inspiration during a time when girls were not yet permitted to participate.
“I started out in coaching because of my dad,” said Fisher, who is in her 32nd season as head softball coach at Lake Mary High. “My dad allowed me to go with him to practices and that’s how it all started. I just fell in love with the game, and it’s been a part of my life the whole time.
