Lake Highland Prep’s boys lacrosse team finished below .500 in a regular season schedule that saw the Highlanders face off against many of the state’s highest ranked teams.
But it looks like the bumpy road helped the Highlanders pick up enough speed to prevail in hard-fought state playoff games.
Lake Highland edged rival Bishop Moore 14-13 to win its Class 1A district title and pulled out another airtight game on Friday night to win 17-16 at Montverde Academy in a region semifinal.
The Highlanders, who have improved to 9-8 with three postseason victories, will host Friday night’s Region 2 final against Vero Beach St.
