Lake Highland Prep ran its girls basketball win streak to 35 in a row and claimed an invitation to the GEICO Nationals tournament Saturday after claiming a second consecutive FHSAA state championship at Lakeland’s RP Funding Center.
The Highlanders (19-0) were relentless throughout the afternoon during a lopsided 84-30 route of Fort Pierce Lincoln Park (20-2) in the Class 4A final.
Lake Highland, ranked No. 1 nationally by MaxPreps and playing in a state final for the fourth consecutive year, has won 48 of 50 games since losing in the 2019 state championship game. The Highlanders also finished state runners-up in 2018.
