Ricky Savage scored on a delayed-penalty goal with 2:37 remaining in overtime Tuesday to help the visiting Vero Beach St. Edward’s Pirates outlast Lake Highland Prep 12-11 in a Class 1A boys lacrosse state quarterfinal.
“That last play, I saw I had a free chance with the flag down,” Savage said. “I saw a shot up the middle, and I had to take it.”
Riker Pratt added three goals for St. Edward’s, which will play Region 1 champ Jacksonville Bolles (15-3) in a state semifinal at noon on Friday at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee. State finals for boys and girls lacrosse will be played Saturday at the same site.
