It was a little over 13 months ago and the Lake Highland Prep girls lacrosse program was thriving. Fresh off the program’s first state championship in 2019, the Highlanders raced out to 6-0 start in 2020, with a loaded roster and aspirations of repeating.
When recalling the season lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lake Highland coach Chris Robinson thinks both of that team’s seniors, whose careers were cut short, and also the elongated process through which the season was cancelled.
Reluctant to pull the plug on the spring slate of sports, officials held off until April 20, 2020, to officially cancel the remainder of competition for the 2019-2020 academic year.
