Lake Brantley’s boys water polo team dives into its first FHSAA final four game on Friday with high hopes for a historic achievement.
The Patriots (18-1), stocked with seniors who have elevated the program, carry a 13-game winning streak into their 6:30 p.m. state semifinal showdown against the other Orlando area entry, Dr. Phillips (16-2). The tournament is being played at Belen Jesuit Prep School of Miami.
Two area girls teams, Lake Nona (16-0) and Seminole (12-6), kick the tournament off with their semifinal matchup at 3 p.m.
“This is kind of the culmination of four years of hard work,” said fourth-year Lake Brantley coach Dhugal Gardner, who played water polo for the Patriots.
