Lake Brantley, Oviedo softball to be tested in competitive district tournament

Five Orlando area softball programs rank Top 20 in the state among all classifications entering district tournaments next week.

That includes Orange City University, which can wrap up an unbeaten regular season with a win Thursday at home at 4 p.m. vs. Flagler Palm Coast (4-8).

The Titans (19-0) rank No. 3 overall behind Class 6A’s Doral Academy (21-2) and 7A’s Lithia Newsome (21-0). University tallied an FHSAA power rating of 23.89 this season. Doral finished with a 24.66 rating followed by Newsome at 24.34.

University will be a heavy favorite in the Class 7A District 2 tournament hosted by Port Orange Spruce Creek.
