Kreis: controversial red card against New England ‘first decision to go our way’

Major League Soccer’s officiating is frequently the target of heavy criticism, but it is in the spotlight even more now that the league is using Video Assistant Referees.

Before officially implementing the instant-replay technology in August, Orlando City coach Jason Kreis loudly decried referees’ decisions during key moments of many of the Lions’ matches.

That didn’t change after the video system was added — until Wednesday night.

Orlando City had five players ejected during the four games leading up to Wednesday’s 6-1 decimation of New England. All of those goals, however, came after the official handed a red card to Revolution midfielder Xavier Kouassi.
