Key’Shawn Smith among Miami Hurricanes’ young wide receivers standing out early in preseason camp

CORAL GABLES — Among the Miami Hurricanes’ younger wide receivers, it’s clear starting quarterback D’Eriq King thinks highly of Key’Shawn Smith.

When asked how having several returning offensive players from last season has made the start of preseason camp easier, King mentioned Smith among veteran players such as wide receivers Mike Harley, Mark Pope, Dee Wiggins and tight end Will Mallory.

“He’s a great player,” King said of Smith, a freshman who’s entering his second year with UM. “He was really young last year. He has a lot of talent. He can stretch the field. We have to keep building that chemistry and relationship, and I think we’ll be pretty good.
