Luis Amarilla made what could seem like an audacious claim in the preseason when the Paraguayan forward predicted he’d score 25 goals in his Major League Soccer debut season.
Amarilla scored in his first match, but it was Kevin Molino who is closer to what would be an MLS club-record for goals, netting a second-half brace to lift Minnesota United to a 3-1 win over the Portland Timbers Sunday night at Providence Park.
Ethan Finlay played a part in all three goals, though was just credited with a pair of assists, for the Loons, while Diego Valeri scored an equalizer from the penalty spot for the Timbers in the finale of Week 1 of the 2020 Major League Soccer season.
