Kelly: Why are Dolphins releasing Josh Rosen now? It just doesn’t add up | Commentary

Not during the draft process when Miami was exploring draft-eligible quarterbacks to challenge former starter Ryan Tannehill in 2018 and were lukewarm to selecting the former UCLA standout, allowing the Arizona Cardinals to trade up and get in front of the Dolphins to take Rosen with the 10th overall pick.

Not when Arizona was trying to unload Rosen one year later, after drafting Kyler Murray first overall in 2019. The Cardinals were desperate to move on from Rosen after his disappointing 13 starts, and Miami was the only bidder.

The Dolphins drastically overpaid for Rosen in the trade.
