That explains why one of Brian Flores' first moves as Dolphins coach was to have McCain transition from nickel cornerback to free safety, where he’s serving as the last line of defense in the secondary.
Miami made that position switch knowing McCain would be an extension of the coaching staff, and he’s clearly meeting their expectations in his 12 games at that position.
“Bobby’s transition to safety is actually going great,” secondary coach Gerald Alexander said.
