Maxson Jean-Denis burned Oak Ridge’s pass defense for 294 yards and five touchdowns on Thursday, guiding the Jones Tigers to a 50-0 rout of the Pioneers in a non-district game.
Jean-Denis completed 14 of 20 passes, finding six different receivers in the road game as Jones snapped a two-game losing streak vs. top-tier opponents and improved to 3-2. He did his damage in one half, throwing touchdown passes to four different receivers. He filled in for regular quarterback Julian Calvez, who according to Jones coach Elijah Williams missed Thursday’s game due to a violation of team rules.
Williams said that the relief starter role was between sophomore Jean-Denis and freshman Christian Robbins, who also threw a touchdown pass late.
