After a week off, Orlando area No. 1 Jones High School showed a little rust on offense on Friday night.
The Tigers, who are No. 16 in USA Today’s football national rankings, had a slow start against visiting Brooksville Hernando with several uncharacteristic penalties.
Jones remained undefeated (7-0) and notched its first shutout of the season in cruising past the Leopards 39-0 in a Class 5A regional quarterfinal.
“Being off two weeks might have hurt us, but we got the win,” Jones coach Elijah Williams said. “Too many penalties with late hits, offsides, delay of games.
