DAYTONA BEACH — Joey Logano’s second heartbreaking defeat in a week delivered another first-time winner at Daytona International Speedway.
Christopher Bell passed Logano with two laps to go Sunday during NASCAR’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 to deliver the promising second-year Cup Series driver a long-awaited victory.
“This is definitely one of the highlights of my life so far,” Bell said. “It feels like I prepared my whole life for this moment.”
Logano, meanwhile, suffered another late-race defeat at the storied venue in the span of seven days. Leading on the final lap of the Daytona 500, Logano crashed when he and teammate Brad Keselowski got tangled, allowing longshot Michael McDowell to storm to his first Cup win.
