Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker was one of six former Orlando area high school sluggers – one of three hailing from Olympia High – who combined for nine Major League Baseball home runs over the weekend.
Winker, a 2012 Olympia graduate in his fifth MLB season, hit three homers in a game for the second time this year on Sunday during an 8-7 road win against the St. Louis Cardinals.
“He’s been doing it for a couple months now,” Cincinnati manager David Bell said in a postgame interview. “We know he can hit, but he just continues to get better.
