Jess Simpson is back as Miami Hurricanes defensive line coach after spending two seasons in the same role with his hometown NFL team, the Atlanta Falcons.
He’s returning to the college game, where he always thought he belonged going back to his tenure as a high school football coach. Compiling a 164-12 record and winning seven Georgia state titles in 12 years at Buford High, all the coaches he had relationships with were fellow high school coaches or those in the college game through recruiting.
But it was the Falcons, whose training facilities are seven miles from his home, that gave him his first opportunity outside of Buford as assistant defensive line coach in 2017.
