CORAL GABLES — Defensive end Cameron Williams and wide receiver Jeremiah Payton were absent from the Miami Hurricanes’ roster on the first day of preseason training camp, with neither practicing with the team Friday evening.
He’d be the second Miami defensive lineman to enter the transfer portal in as many weeks, with defensive tackle Jalar Holley entering the portal last week.
Payton, a former four-star prospect out of Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach, was UM’s highest-rated recruit in its 2019 class, according to 247Sports Composite score.
He redshirted his true freshman season in 2019, recording one reception in four games, before recording five receptions for 35 yards in 2020.
