As the Dolphins prepared on the field for their scrimmage Saturday, the news came of Raekwon McMillan and a fifth-round pick being traded to Oakland for a fourth-round pick.
On one level, it’s no great surprise McMillan was traded as you saw this August lay out. He wasn’t getting high-profile work. He talent isn’t covering players or blitzing. He was a first-down linebacker, a short-yardage player … and this coaching staff puts a premium on versatility.
On another level, they dumped a second-round pick from 2017 for … nothing. So we have to say this once again: A team building with draft picks can’t keep throwing away valuable ones.
