ATLANTA — The Miami Hurricanes did what was expected of them as a 19 1/2-point underdog in their Saturday matchup against top-ranked Alabama (1-0) in Atlanta: they lost by a wide margin.
Although the 44-13 defeat was ugly and only further proved that UM (0-1) has a long way to go before its competing with the country’s elite program, a blowout loss was a result expected by many.
Despite the sting of the season-opening loss, the Hurricanes can take solace in two areas: the Crimson Tide will likely be the best team they play during the regular season and they’re approaching three non-conference homes games to help prepare them for Atlantic Coast Conference play.
