Miami Hurricanes freshman safety and star recruit Avantae Williams will miss his first fall season, UM coach Manny Diaz said on Tuesday morning.
Diaz said Miami’s medical staff found “chronic and lingering medical issues” with Williams and will hold him out for his first college season.
Williams was ranked as high as the No. 1 safety nationally in the 2020 recruiting class by Rivals this past cycle. Out of Deland High in Central Florida, Williams chose the Hurricanes over the Florida Gators in a National Signing Day announcement in February.
