Miami Hurricanes redshirt senior quarterback D’Eriq King was named to the watch list for the 2021 John Maxwell Award, which is presented to college football’s player of the year.
King is returning to UM for the 2021 season for his sixth college football season after taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted to student-athletes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 23-year-old signal caller transferred to Miami from Houston during the 2020 offseason ahead of what he originally expected to be his last collegiate season.
King had a standout season with UM in 2020, throwing for 2,686 yards and 23 touchdowns to five interceptions.
