Miami Hurricanes redshirt senior quarterback D’Eriq King exited his team’s Cheez-It Bowl game against Oklahoma State with an apparent right knee injury.
King tried to juke a defender when his knee buckled and he went down with 4:06 remaining in the first half on Tuesday at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.
King was able to get up but got off the field with help of trainers, unable to walk on his own power. Redshirt junior backup N’Kosi Perry entered in relief.
King, on Saturday, announced his intention to return to the Hurricanes for a sixth college season, utilizing the extra year of college eligibility all football players are being granted by the NCAA due to the 2020 season being played amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
