With so much different at Miami Hurricanes training camp in 2020 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, UM is also in the unique situation of having fresh linebacker competition heading into the season.

For the past four seasons, Shaq Quarterman started at middle (Mike) linebacker and Michael Pinckney at weakside (Will) linebacker. When Miami utilized a traditional three-linebacker set, it was Zach McCloud deployed in the strongside (Sam) role until the Hurricanes opted to swap that spot out for the safety-linebacker hybrid position of a striker.

Now, Quarterman and Pinckney are gone, along with Romeo Finley who started at striker.
