CORAL GABLES — The Miami Hurricanes expected for Kamren Kinchens to get significant playing time in their season-opening loss to Alabama last Saturday, but they didn’t anticipate him playing as much as he did against the Crimson Tide.
Kinchens, a true freshman safety out of Miami Northwestern, entered the matchup versus Alabama as a backup safety on UM’s two-deep depth chart and was recognized as the No. 3 option behind starters and veteran safeties, Bubba Bolden and Gurvan Hall Jr.
But when Bolden was disqualified from the game late in the first quarter for a targeting penalty he was given for a hit against Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr.
