For the second consecutive game, it isn’t clear who will start at quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, who open Atlantic Coast Conference play against Virginia (2-2, 0-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (ESPN) at Hard Rock Stadium.
D’Eriq King, who started in all 11 games for Miami (2-2) last year and the first three games of this season, is questionable for the game with a right shoulder injury he sustained in UM’s loss to Michigan State on Sept. 18.
King wasn’t available for the Hurricanes’ home game against Central Connecticut State, an FCS program, last Saturday. Backup quarterbacks Tyler Van Dyke and Jake Garcia split reps against the Blue Devils, with the freshmen combining for 21-of-25 passing for 417 yards and five touchdowns in the win over Central Connecticut State, as King watched from Miami’s sideline.
