The Orlando Pride will take the pitch for the first time this weekend in the NWSL Fall Series, but the team’s 11 players on loan abroad also have a full slate of matches scheduled throughout this week.
With only four NWSL matches available for the Pride to compete following their withdrawal from the NWSL Challenge Cup earlier, the club sent the majority of its experienced players on loan to earn minutes in leagues currently in action. Players are scattered across five leagues in England, Spain, Sweden, Brazil and Iceland.
Although they won’t be playing in an Orlando kit, Pride vice president Amanda Duffy said players’ performances while on loan will be a vital part of the decision-making process as the club looks to build toward the 2021 season.
