Lake Mary senior Dillon Dechristopher took over the state lead when he cleared 15-feet, 5¾-inches in the pole vault in a meet hosted by Mount Dora Christian last Saturday.
That pushed him to the top of the all-classification list for 2021, just ahead of ninth graders Alex Georgiev of Montverde Academy and Joseph Butler of Sebastian River, both of whom have cleared 15-5.
Dechristopher is one of the athletes to watch in Thursday’s Seminole Athletic Conference meet at Lake Brantley. That list includes the state’s top girls distance runner, Caroline Wells of Winter Springs.
