The left-hander allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one in seven stellar innings as the Sox blanked the Rays 3-0 in front of 19,259 at Guaranteed Rate Field.
“I’ll definitely take this one. I felt really good coming out of the gate,” Keuchel said during a conference call. “A lot of these guys handle lefty starters well, so I knew I had my work cut out for me. I’m just glad we got the win and I was able to contribute more than the first two months.”
Keuchel (6-1) recorded his third straight quality start, helping the Sox even the highly anticipated three-game series between the teams with the best records in baseball.
