Congolese goalkeeper Parfait Mandanda signed with Hartford Athletic of the USL Championship on loan Thursday from Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian Pro League.
The 30-year-old will join Hartford for the duration of the 2020 season, pending league and federation approval.
His brother, Steve, is the starting goalkeeper for Ligue 1’s Olympique Marseille and has been in the France men’s national team’s player pool since 2008.
Mandanda represented France at the U-21 level in 2007, but switched his affiliation to Congo DR in 2008. He’s made 17 international appearances since then, the most recent being a World Cup qualifier against Burundi in 2015.
