Hagerty, last season’s Class 7A girls volleyball state champ, found itself down 2-0 in a best-of-five region semifinal match at Winter Park on Thursday night.
Coaches infused some humor into a moment that was no laughing matter and Hagerty rallied to win 13-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-13 and stay alive.
“We made a few little changes in the third set and we were able to run with it,” said Huskies coach Juanita Hitt.
A key, she said, was the mental approach for a team graduated most of its key players from 2019.
“We could have panicked but we just tried to stay calm,” Hitt said.
