GAINESVILLE — Florida reportedly has hired coach Wesley McGriff to serve as a defensive assistant after the Gators suffered a historically bad season on that side of the football.
McGriff, 52, has deep SEC roots and spent four seasons on the Miami staff, giving him recruiting ties to the state and the overall region.
FootballScoop.com reported UF coach Dan Mullen has hired McGriff to fill one of the vacancies created by the firing of safeties coach Ron English and cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray.
McGriff served as Auburn’s secondary coach the past two seasons and also in 2016, sandwiching a two-year stint as defensive coordinator at Ole Miss.
