Dan Mullen has promoted Garrick McGee to work with the Florida Gators’ quarterbacks, aiming to tap into the veteran offensive coach’s vast experience and knowledge.
McGee will replace 33-year-old wunderkind Brian Johnson, who left the Gators to become offensive coordinator for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles after serving two three-year stints under Mullen coaching QBs — at UF (2018-20) and Mississippi State (2014-16). Johnson also served as Gators’ offensive coordinator in 2020, but Mullen still handled primary play-calling duties as he has during his 12 seasons as a head coach.
“Garrick brings a wealth of knowledge to our offensive room,” Mullen said.
