Orlando City was supposed to win its U.S. Open Cup match at home against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the second-tier North American Soccer League. Instead, the Lions failed to finish the many chances they had and gave up a late goal, losing 3-2 in extra time at Camping World Stadium.
It was the club's first loss at home since last summer.
The game provided not only a chance to advance in the tournament, which awards its winner a berth in the Champions League, but an opportunity for players to prove themselves before the MLS summer transfer window opens Monday.
