Week 13 of the high school football season and round three of the playoffs for area teams that remain alive had more than the games going on.
Prior to a its Class 8A home region semifinal against Sarasota Riverview, Osceola High School of Kissimmee payed tribute to former Kowboys quarterback and longtime NFL strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul, who died Wednesday. He was 54.
Paul was an all-star high school player for Osceola, then switched to defense as a four-year starter for Syracuse earning All-American honors as a senior. He was drafted by Chicago in the 1989 NFL Draft and played five seasons with the Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before knee problems ended his playing days.
