Down at the MLS Combine in Lauderhill a few weeks ago, former Orlando City academy director Darren Powell set his goals somewhat low on what he was looking forward to next.
“I’ll be moving into my apartment on Thursday,” he said. “An air mattress and Wifi and I’ll be ready to roll.”
It’s been that kind of whirlwind for Powell since he left Orlando City to take over as head coach of the new USL team in San Antonio. The team is owned by Spurs Sports & Entertainment, which gives the new franchise instant credibility within the soccer world.
