He moved to Central Florida soon after he retired from playing professionally in 2013. The next year, he decided to invite top international club teams to play a tournament in the city during their winter break, and the Florida Cup was born.
As he helped kick off the sixth edition of the tournament Monday at Universal Orlando Citywalk, the former FC Dallas player turned entrepreneur is hoping the Florida Cup plays a special role helping bolster Orlando’s bid to host 2026 World Cup matches.
