With COVID-19 continuing to force game cancelations a year and a half after a global pandemic was declared, the FHSAA board of directors voted 11-2 on Monday to again waive minimum game requirements for teams and individuals in fall sports.
Football had an eight-game minimum for playoff qualification until the association waived its game requirements for all sports in the 2020-21 school year due to the coronavirus and its impact on scheduling.
The FHSAA also typically enforces individual regular season participation minimums. For instance, cross country and swimming/diving athletes had to compete in five meets prior to Monday’s decree.
