The Lake Nona and West Orange football programs were fined and placed on administrative probation by the Florida High School Athletic Association for allowing transfers to play in spring games.
The infractions were self-reported by Lake Nona in June and West Orange in July. Orange County Public Schools and the FHSAA confirmed in August that each school had been penalized.
The FHSAA considers spring football “a continuation of the regular fall football season.” A student that transfers to another school midyear “may not participate in a sport if the student participated in that same sport at another school during that school year,” according to an FHSAA bylaw.
