After months of delay due to COVID-19′s impact on schools, the FHSAA is moving forward with new classifications for its 20 varsity sports for the 2021-22 school year.
The Florida High School Athletic Association board of directors voted unanimously Monday morning to use October 2020 enrollment numbers, which is standard procedure, for a new one-year reclassification during its online meeting.
Another option that had been discussed was maintaining the class alignments that were set for the 2019-20 and current 2020-21 school years.
The decision means football scheduling will still not be finalized for several more weeks as high school coaches eagerly await new district assignments for programs that compete in Class 8A, 7A, 6A and 5A.
