After decades of holding North and South state semifinals in football and several other sports, the Florida High School Athletic Association could make a big change to that format Monday.
The FHSAA’s board of directors is expected to vote on a proposal to use power rankings generated by MaxPreps to seed the final four teams in the four bracket sports that play semifinals at home sites: football, girls volleyball, and boys and girls soccer.
If approved, the measure would go into effect for the 2021-22 school year and would do away with the longstanding tradition of always matching the Region 1 champion vs.
