FC Cincinnati adds Haris Medunjanin; 3 others chosen in MLS waiver draft

Four players were chosen Monday in the Major League Soccer waiver draft.

FC Cincinnati used the No. 1 pick to take Philadelphia Union midfielder Haris Medunjanin, whose exit from the Union was confirmed last week.

The 34-year-old from Bosnia and Herzegovina played in 98 games for the Union over three seasons, including a pair of 34-game seasons. The midfielder started his career in the Netherlands and was selected by a club with a growing Dutch influence, as sporting director Gerard Nijkamp and head coach Ron Jans were brought to Cincinnati during the 2019 season.

FC Cincinnati now owns Medunjanin’s MLS rights and hold the priority to negotiate with him.
