Windermere Prep will start the upcoming boys basketball season without its All-State forward, Fanbo Zeng. Whether or not he plays at all for the Lakers this winter remains to be seen.
The slender 6-foot-9 junior returned to China in March after Windermere Prep closed its campus as the COVID-19 pandemic was sweeping the globe. He has been unable to return.
“Until the travel ban is lifted, he’s there,” Windermere Prep coach Brian Hoff said Monday. “Obviously, we’re hopeful that he can rejoin our team. He’s not able to return yet.”
ESPN ranks Zeng No. 33 among Class of 2022 college prospects.
