Orlando’s Faith Christian Academy football program self-reported the use of “a handful” of ineligible players to the Florida High School Athletic Association last week.
The ineligible players, including 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior quarterback Zach McKnight, suited up for the Lions in Week 1 during a 55-7 loss at Mount Dora Christian Academy on Sept. 4.
“We misinterpreted one of the rules, which came out after that first game,” said Faith Christian athletic director Tony Medina. “It stings for the kids, but we’ll work through this learning experience.”
McKnight is enrolled as a student at Bright Learning Cyber School in Winter Park, according to Faith coach David Carrington.
