The 2020 MLS SuperDraft begins Thursday, and it will have a much different feel than previous iterations of the event.
For the first time ever, Major League Soccer teams will not be in attendance for the draft process. Instead, they will go through the event on a league-wide conference call.
More teams now rely on academy and homegrown products to fill out the back end of their rosters and feeder squads in the USL Championship and League One, so there are more challenges for the best college soccer players to face than ever before when trying to break into MLS squads.
