ESPN broadcaster and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard celebrated his 50th birthday Friday by honoring some Central Florida teachers.
Howard, a former Michigan football standout who regularly appears on ESPN’s College GameDay, took part in a virtual Chalk Talk luncheon with members of Florida Citrus Sports Thursday. In lieu of receiving a speaking fee, Howard asked that the money be donated to the community around Camping World Stadium.
FCS, in turn, purchased $30 GrubHub gift cards for roughly 300 teachers in the West Lakes area, including Jones, Rock Lake, Orange Center and Legends Academy. Members also made and distributed teacher appreciation yard signs.
