Orlando City released a roster update Tuesday listing the 2018 contract statuses of each player.
The club exercised contract options on eight players while declining the options of eight others, including forward and designated player Giles Barnes and midfielders Antonio Nocerino and Servando Carrasco.
However, things can and usually do change after the November roster update.
For example, a player’s option may be declined now so that the club can renegotiate terms for next season, or a player under contract for 2018 can be traded down the road.
After evaluating the club’s needs, the coaching staff met with each player for end-of-season interviews to convey the decisions.
