VENICE — Things simply went from bad to worse for Edgewater on Friday night as host Venice handed the Eagles a 41-7 beatdown in high school football.
After the Eagles went three-and-out on their first possession, a shanked punt that went zero net yards paved the way for Venice to carry momentum. But the worst part of the evening was the second quarter for Edgewater (1-1), Florida’s Class 7A state runner-up in 2019 and 2020.
Already falling behind 21-0, Edgewater moved the ball to the Venice 11-yard line. Following a trio of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and a major sack, the Eagles were facing a fourth-and-73 situation from their own 23-yard line.
